San Antonio is building on several fronts: I-35 in the northeast, the VIA Green Line, Alamo Plaza and the Project Marvel district planned around Hemisfair. Bauzaunwelt is the official ZND General Distributor in the USA. We sell genuine ZND temporary fence panels, gates and accessories to contractors, event producers and public agencies in Bexar County who would rather own than rent.
San Antonio rules for construction fencing
A fence that stays on private property is usually reviewed as part of your building or demolition permit with the City's Development Services Department (DSD). Once fence or barricades take over a sidewalk or lane, the Public Works Department's Right-of-Way Management group is involved. Its Lane/Sidewalk Closure Permit covers temporary closures of lanes and sidewalks at a specific address. The fee is based on square footage and the number of days, plus a $50 application fee.
Where people still have to walk past a building or demolition site, DSD has a separate Covered Pedestrian Walkway Permit. The application says a walkway in the City right-of-way also needs separate right-of-way permitting. On demolition jobs, the walkway has to be built and inspected before the demolition permit is issued. Check your fence layout with DSD and Public Works before you order; ZND panels meet common construction-site requirements, but the permit office decides. Under the Unified Development Code, permanent fences in historic districts and corridor overlays need a compatibility finding. Ask DSD whether that applies to a temporary fence downtown or in King William.
Where San Antonio jobs need fence
Highways, transit and downtown
TxDOT's I-35 NEX Central project is building 9.5 miles of elevated lanes through northeast San Antonio, Live Oak, Selma and Schertz. It has been under construction since June 2022. VIA's Green Line adds sidewalk and intersection work. Long corridor jobs suit the ST812 8'x12' anti-climb panel. The ST612 6'x12' covers lower perimeters. Where equipment yards need extra height, add a barbed wire extension panel. A double sliding gate kit handles truck access.
Fiesta, rodeo and big crowds
Fiesta San Antonio 2026 ran from April 16 to 26, and more than 350,000 spectators were expected downtown for the Battle of Flowers Parade alone. The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo returns to the Frost Bank Center and the surrounding fairgrounds from February 11 to 28, 2027. Parade routes can use heavy-duty bar barriers or fixed-leg barriers; beer gardens and back-of-house areas need full-height panels with a 6 ft pedestrian gate.
Spring storms and wind
The National Weather Service office for Austin/San Antonio has documented spring thunderstorms in this area with 50 to 60 mph winds and large hail. Put every panel in a tube stand and join panels with HD Griplock couplers. On open lots, brace the line with the Windbreaker Standard stabilizer set and a pallet of Z-weights. A fence cover blocks dust and views but catches more wind, so brace more.

Freight and delivery to San Antonio
San Antonio orders ship by LTL truck from the ZND plant in Statesville, North Carolina. Freight to San Antonio starts at $799 for a 12-panel order (shown live at checkout; exact rate by ZIP on request). A 64-panel order ships for approximately $2,059, and a full truckload of 256 panels for approximately $4,519. The minimum order is 12 fence panels. You need a forklift or loading dock on site; if you have neither, ask for delivery with unloading (for example liftgate service) in your quote.
Buying instead of renting
We sell fence; we do not rent it. A rental can cost less for one short job. If you fence several sites a year, stage events every spring or run long projects, owning panels you move from job to job can pay off. Payment options are listed in the FAQ below.
San Antonio temporary fence FAQ
Do I need a permit to put temporary fence on a San Antonio sidewalk?
If fence or barricades take up a sidewalk or traffic lane, plan on a Lane/Sidewalk Closure Permit from the Public Works Department's Right-of-Way Management group. Fence that stays on private property is normally reviewed with your building or demolition permit through Development Services. Check with both offices before you set panels.
How much is freight to San Antonio?
Freight to San Antonio starts at $799 for a 12-panel order (shown live at checkout; exact rate by ZIP on request). Orders ship by LTL truck from Statesville, North Carolina. You need a forklift or loading dock unless you ask for delivery with unloading in your quote.
How do I keep panels standing during Texas thunderstorms?
Use a tube stand on every panel, couplers at every joint, and Windbreaker stabilizers with Z-weights at intervals on open lots. Covers add wind load, so brace more when you screen a line.
Should I rent or buy fence for Fiesta or rodeo season?
For a single weekend, a local rental may be cheaper. If you run events every year or move fence between construction sites, buying lets you reuse the same panels, barriers and gates every season. We only sell, and the minimum order is 12 panels.
Can a San Antonio public agency pay with a purchase card?
Yes. Agencies can pay by government purchase card or agency purchase order; other new customers pay by credit card or prepayment, and Net 30 terms are reserved for established customers. Bauzaunwelt is registered in SAM.gov under CAGE 21BQ4.
