Denver's construction map runs from the National Western Center in the north to Ball Arena and the River Mile along the South Platte. Crews also have to plan for Front Range windstorms that can flatten a poorly braced fence line. Bauzaunwelt is the official ZND General Distributor in the USA. We sell ZND temporary fence panels, gates and accessories to contractors, event producers and public agencies across the metro.
Denver rules for construction fencing
Street occupancy. Short-term use of the right-of-way is permitted by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) through E-Permits. You upload a street occupancy worksheet and traffic control plans with the application. For longer-term private improvements in the right-of-way, DOTI requires an encroachment permit.
Pedestrian walkways. DOTI's pedestrian walkway requirements are unusually detailed. Covered walkways are required when a building or its construction equipment is less than 10 feet from the inside edge of the walkway, or when its height is greater than that distance. Fenced walkways may be used when all work is at or below grade and at least 1 foot from the walkway. Under the standard, security fencing around the site must be at least 6 feet high and the street-side walkway fence 4 feet high. It also specifies galvanized steel, 2-inch by 2-inch 9-gauge fabric, line posts no more than 10 feet apart, and flashing amber lights at ends and corners and every 50 to 75 feet when the fence stands in the street. Site gates must stay closed except while vehicles pass, with a flagger or police officer at the opening. These specs describe a particular fence build. Our panels meet common construction-site requirements, but compare them with the standard and ask DOTI Permit Operations whether freestanding panels will be accepted for your walkway before you order.
Projects, events and wind
Arenas, riverfront and the north side
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has proposed a $135 million renovation of Ball Arena. Nearby, the River Mile plan covers 62 acres along the South Platte, and work continues on the National Western complex. For long jobs, choose the ST812 8'x12' anti-climb panel or the ST612. Add a double sliding gate kit where trucks enter and a pedestrian gate for crews.
Stock Show and beer festival
The National Western Stock Show runs from January 9 to 24, 2027. The organizers say their record show drew more than 750,000 guests. In 2026 the Great American Beer Festival moves outdoors for the first time, to Levitt Pavilion in Ruby Hill Park on October 10 and 11. Outdoor festivals need a secure perimeter of ST612 panels or ST812 panels plus bar barriers or fixed-leg barriers at entry lanes.
Downslope windstorms
NOAA's Boulder wind record lists dozens of gusts of 70 mph or more near the foothills since 1969, and most of them fall in December and January. Treat bracing as part of the design from the start. Use HD Griplock couplers at every joint, Windbreaker Elite stabilizers on corners and long runs, and Z-weights or the OxBlock stand for ballast. Fence covers catch much more wind, so brace harder or take them down before a high wind warning.

Freight to Denver
Denver orders ship by LTL truck from the ZND plant in Madera, California. Freight to Denver starts at $929 for a 12-panel order (shown live at checkout; exact rate by ZIP on request). A 64-panel order ships for approximately $2,249, and a full 256-panel truckload from about $4,529. The minimum order is 12 fence panels. The site needs a forklift or loading dock. If there is none, request delivery with unloading, such as a liftgate, through a quote.
Owning fence in Denver
Bauzaunwelt sells; we do not run a rental fleet. If you need fence for a few weeks, renting may cost less. If you rotate fence between jobs, keep a walkway fenced for a full build, or put up the same festival perimeter every year, owning can pay off. New customers pay by credit card or prepayment. Public agencies can also use a government purchase card or an agency purchase order, and Net 30 terms are reserved for established customers. SAM.gov registered, CAGE 21BQ4.
Denver temporary fence FAQ
Do I need a permit to put construction fence on a Denver sidewalk?
Yes. Short-term use of the right-of-way is permitted by Denver DOTI through E-Permits with a traffic control plan, and walkways must follow DOTI pedestrian walkway requirements. Longer-term private improvements need an encroachment permit. Confirm your fence type with DOTI Permit Operations.
Are ZND panels accepted for a Denver pedestrian walkway?
DOTI's walkway standard specifies fence heights, fabric, posts, lights and gates. Compare it with our panel specifications and ask DOTI whether freestanding panels are acceptable for your walkway before you order.
What does freight to Denver cost?
Freight to Denver starts at $929 for a 12-panel order (shown live at checkout; exact rate by ZIP on request). Panels travel by LTL truck from Madera, California; without a forklift or dock, request unloading in your quote.
How do I stop fence blowing over in Front Range wind?
Couple every joint, brace corners and long runs with Windbreaker stabilizers, and ballast them with Z-weights or OxBlock stands. Take fence covers down before high wind warnings when you can.
Is buying better than renting fence in Denver?
For a short job, renting may cost less. For long builds, repeat events or fence that moves between sites, owning panels can pay off. We only sell, and the minimum order is 12 panels.
